とろ美 and GENKAN MATT in English-language video series?

Hiiiiiii! My name is Toromi. Nice to meet CHU! ♥

CYBER MEDIA TV are currently probing their virtual non-Japanese audience with a test video that popped up on their youtube account just a few days ago. In a surprising twist, GENKAN MATT speaks impeccable English, as if he spent a couple of years outside of Japan. Our lovely Toromi gets the short end of the stick, but manages to end the video on a cuuuuuute note.

I think I speak on behalf on the entire Denpa no Sekai readership when I say that this project is wholeheartedly supported. Even if it's just 5 minutes long and on a monthly basis, an English-language video series featuring Toromi and GENKAN MATT roaming the streets of Akihabara would be to die for. Or you know what, just have them hanging out and chatting like they do in their other videos, with bonus points if Toromi smashes the shit out of everyone with her pokapoka hammer.

CYMEDIA seem to be pretty open to comments, so go ahead and post your suggestions. Make no mistake, this project ain't going anywhere if it doesn't give their channel more views, so spread the good word Toromi fans!

Melo9 wishes you a happy (belated) Valentine's Day

The melo9 girls were sadly absent from C77, but that's probably because they were busy planning a strong 2010 year. Their first release of the year (third overall) came out on February 14th 2010, just in time for Valentine's Day and Tokyo's Comitia 91. To commemorate the event, melo9 rolled out their first Niconico video. For many Japanese denpaphiles, this will actually be an introduction to Rizu and Mero, but faithful Denpa no Sekai readers were exposed to the budding duo as early as August 2009.

Solid hyper-moe-denpa stuff, no? You might want to download the sampler MP3 as well. There's a marked improvement between this latest single and their first two releases (a mini-album and a C76 single). Either way, it's always nice to hear some original compositions from smaller circles every once in a while. Better still, this circle is very open to its non-Japanese fanbase, so feel free to get in touch with them via their blog! They have already promised international mail order in the near future. Ask and ye shall receive!

Currently, they are promoting this new single as well as their past releases, but an M3-25 release is already confirmed (May 5th 2010). It is very refreshing to get advance notice of upcoming denpa releases, compared to the usual last-minute announcements. On the other hand, this also gives Melo9 a strict deadline to work with, so let's wish them great success!

Incoming MOSAIC.WAV announcement on MOMOI's モコモコ show?

独占!モコモコ 60分』 is another example of MOMOI Haruko's internet omnipresence. But unlike her 2009 radio show (はいはい、ラジオラジオ), this live NicoNico video broadcast has her wearing all kinds of cute costumes and hosting a bunch of cool people, such as this pervy Gaijin Santa (aka Patrick from otaku2.com). Make sure to check out an x-mas version of her hit song "Wonder Momo-i" with the Clausmeister ヲタ芸ing it up hardcore in the back.

This week, MOSAIC.WAV will be her guests of honor, which is great news in itself. At the very least, we'll probably see an impromptu keytar duel between Kayapi and Haruko. But if this blog entry holds true, then they are set to announce a new project! Most likely, Momoi will formally announce her upcoming Remix CD, since amazon and cdjapan already have that info. But perhaps she will renew her Under17 collaboration with MOSAIC.WAV? There's a brief mention of the Animelo 2008 session on the official Akihabalove channel. Who knows? We all will... in a day's time.

By the way, there's an upcoming KOTOKO & MOMOI concert on May 3rd 2010 (in Shibuya). As good a time as any for I've Sound to launch SHORT CIRCUIT 3!

EXIT TRANCE wants your denpa dollars

I don't think EXIT TRANCE/TUNES needs to be introduced anymore, as they've already released a trillion albums since the start of 2010. But in case you've been negatively influenced by their not-so-stellar earlier offerings, then it is high time for another chance. Myself, I wasn't too hot on DJ UTO's first anime trance album back in 2007, which unfortunately made me skip the 「ウマウマできるトランスを作ってみた」 (hereafter UmaUma) series until I discovered it for the first time in mid-2009. As you can probably gather from the name, the UmaUma series strays a little bit from their usual アニトラ norm. The mood is much lighter and they won't shy from covering "obscure" Niconico memes / viral videos.

Case in point, the seventh volume in the UmaUma series which came out on February 3rd 2010 features toilet-boombox-chan on the cover and a Ryu☆ Remix of 「ぽっぴっぽー」 (sung by 初音ミク) as the opening track (compare it with the much slower but just as catchy original). Earlier volumes featured sweet Capsule, Perfume and KOTOKO remixes as well as an hilarious Japan Break Industries cover, among other things. Furthermore, the third volume holds my absolute favourite DO-DAI remix of all time... which I consider to be more denpa than trance.

Oh! I guess DJ UTO thought the same, since EXIT are about to launch into a brand new 電波トランス (denpa trance) series, with the first volume dropping on February 17th 2010. Unfortunately, there are no samples just yet, but it seems like a couple of the featured tracks are making a repeat appearance (such as the aforementioned DO-DAI). Well, you could always check out all of the original versions until the album comes out.

See anything you like in there? How about two MOSAIC.WAV and three 桃井はるこ songs? Yeah, chances are this is going to fucking rule. Also looking forward to the fripSide cover, but I think we've had enough Dokuro-chan remixes by now. BTW guys, don't go busting too many nuts over Ma15's sweet voice. Yeah she's a killer singer, but also only 11 years old. Fucking hell, Japan!
