Denpa no Sekai 2012 Sampler

It's that time of the year! Let's take a good long look at what 2012 brought to the table. Once again I'd like to thank mandichan and mossya for their collaboration. I'd also like to make something very clear: if you (yes you!) feel the itch to contribute (articles, reviews, news reports, etc) to this site, then please contact me by all means! It's been especially though to come up with content these days due to real-life contingencies, but we'll keep trying our best to spread the good word. Also feel free to check out our 2009, 2010 and 2011 samplers, as well as this year's underrated albums.

Once again I'm sorry to report that the Japanese Denpa Song Awards aren't happening this year as well. Maybe we need to look into opening polls and taking over next year? Speaking for myself, I certainly wouldn't mind because picking 12 songs to showcase is a lot harder than it seems! I'd be remiss not to mention this year's Best Erogame Song poll, which is always worth checking out. Strangely there just doesn't seem to be any denpa involved, even though I can think of quite a few songs that would belong on there. Doesn't seem to be against the rules either, oh well. That's where we come in... introducing the 2012 Denpa no Sekai sampler!

Singer:
Composer:   ARM
Album: Crimson Tempest
Comments:
denpanosekai: I happen to be a REDALiCE fan and I've often talked about crossover potential between denpa and J-core. ななひら also performed on a couple of ALiCE'S EMOTiON albums as well, so I look forward to more collaborations in the future. As far as this song is concerned, it is yet another example of ARM's endless quest for perfect production values. It's wild stuff to be sure, but this guy goes beyond OCD and jam-packs his creations with countless details at every microsecond.

mandichan: I had the pleasure of first seeing Momiji live and getting to talk to her at the last denkyun event. Love the humorous tone of voice to her spoken lines. Her and ARM are definitely a dynamite combo melting the ice in Hokkaido!

Singer: SHAKING PINK
Composer:
Album:
Comments:
denpanosekai: I'll come right out and say that 「しぇいきんぐ!」 is my personal album of the year! Of course we went with the "theme" song (absolute banger from Child Prodigy かめりあ) but there's something special about every track. The composers did a tremendous job in creating songs that perfectly match each girl's personality.

mandichan: SHAKING PINK is really a denpa lover's dream come true. Can't wait to see what else they are gonna come up with, and I hope they'll have more and more live performances too! The energy of this song is just crazy. Can never get tired of listening to it!

TitleW.W.D
Composer:
Album: W.W.D/
Comments:
denpanosekai: Simply put, a denpa opera! Technically, this song is from a 2013 single but the video did come out in late 2012. Another splendid composition from 前山田健一 whose multifaceted talents never cease to amaze.

mandichan: Dempagumi.inc truly has come up from nowhere to become a denpa legend. Who would think I could hear a true denpa song playing while browsing for snacks at the convenience store? This song really lets each member express themselves in a way that is somehow extremely emotional while also still denpa and fun. The seriousness that lies behind the otaku-themed lyrics reminds me of none other than the groundbreaking days of UNDER17. I love songs which dare to be serious about things "normal people" might find laughable.

Singer:
Composer:   KuKuDoDo
Game:
Comments:
denpanosekai: It's KuKu-motherfucking-DoDo, what more can I say? I love the man and look forward to his solo album this year. This is yet another masterpiece Touhou album from Holic Service and Birdtune, but this particular song highlights his aggressive arranger style with full-on gongs and razor-sharp synths.

mandichan: Sweetie pie Riko is a perfect fit for singing KuKuDoDo's awesome compositions. Considering Holic Service is actually based in Osaka, the dialect is a perfect choice too. How do they keep making so many awesome songs? I don't know but I'm not complaining!

Title
Singer:
Composer:
Game:
Comments:
denpanosekai: "Everyone's Bro" Satsuki Ga Tenkomori finally got his eroge debut! I was quite surprised to learn that the vocals were from 綾瀬理恵, let's just hope this won't be the one and only collaboration between those two. If you're looking for a longer and family-friendly version, check out this self-cover.

mandichan: It's unfortunate Rierin doesn't seem to be collaborating with ave;new anymore, but it's refreshing to hear her working with other artists too... especially Satsuki! This one song shows a nice range of her voice smoothly melding with Satsuki's compositions.

Artist:
Composer:
Album:
Comments:
denpanosekai: Odenpa have come a long way and certainly earned their spot on our annual sampler. This track is an interesting personality medley (I especially love the Big Sister parts!) on top of an explosive, slap-bass-heavy ベイビー・レモネード composition.

mandichan: Odenpa Studio loves to mix things up with lots of collaborations and exploration. This may just be their weirdest song yet, and I love it for that. The way the spoken lines intertwine with the singing and chanting is pure perfection! I can't get enough of the way the different layers build up as the song goes on, there's always something interesting to listen to.

Title
Comments:
denpanosekai: 「WONDER MOMO-i」 used to be my go-to 桃井はるこ song when trying to nudge potential new fans in the right direction, but Akiba Ranger might just take over this coveted position! It's incredibly catchy and it doesn't hurt that it's associated to such a great show that revolves around Akihabara, daydreams and delusions! I also love the growls by 山形ユキオ who is a fucking beast!

mandichan: I might be a huge Momoi fan and a huge denpa song fan, but in general, I don't find most of Momoi's songs that denpa-ish and I like them in a different way... but when Momoi does decide to make a song I consider to be denpa, you better believe I am overjoyed! This song has the perfect mix of hotbloodedness and cuteness, plus a great sense of humor to the lyrics. And don't even get me STARTED on the show it's from! Admittedly I just watched the show at first because Momoi sang the opening, but in the end I loved the show all on its own. Can't wait for season 2!

Composer: U-ske
Anime:
Comments:
denpanosekai: ちぃむdmp☆ always have a great variety of musical genres on their album and this is certainly a great example of their "sweet" style. Their voices come together perfectly thanks to a silky-smooth piece from regular contributor U-ske. At this point I'm just hoping for a fifth album!

mandichan: So many good songs from Team dmp but this is the one I've looped the most. The composition showcases their voices perfectly and utilizes the fact that it's a duet perfectly with nicely placed solo lines.

Title
Artist:
Album: THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA MASTER 002
Comments:
denpanosekai: I personally haven't followed the IDOLM@STER series since their chiptune albums, but sexy new songs like this one just blow me away and suck me right back in!

mandichan: Being a "mobamas" cute P since the early days, I was absolutely PSYCHED when they announced the first round of character CDs would include "anzuchang". And the simple hiragana title made me know it would be an awesome denpa song. The final song totally lived up to my expectations, being a great anthem for all the NEETs out there. So anyway, gimmie her Halloween SR for promoting this song!!

Title
Artist: MOSAIC.WAV
Album:
Comments:
denpanosekai: It feels like these guys are really due for another big anime or eroge blockbuster, but MOSAIC.WAV certainly haven't lost their touch! You really need to put on a pair of headphones and close your eyes to really appreciate Kayapi's insane technique.

mandichan: This song after Anzu's song! The irony! OK it was totally by accident but I love it! Mobile games like Cinderella Girls have made people across the world fork over big money towards gambling for JPGs which MOSAIC.WAV lampoons in this song, and even explained the odds in the book included with the limited edition. The arrangement and vocals are of course up to MOSAIC.WAV's high standards of quality making a fun song anyway you look at it. (By the way, I'm a proud "mukakin" non-paying player!)

Title
Singer:
Composer: きくお
Album: MagiQute!!
Comments:
denpanosekai: I may be a Lady ななひら fanboy for life, but I'm also a straight-up sucker for anything きくお-related! This is litterally one of the first things I look for when I read about a new album: "Is there a きくお song???" and this one has got to be one of his top songs yet! They completely tore apart the golden rules of song construction yet managed to assemble a freaky "frankenpa" monster that can stand on its own just fine.

mandichan: Kikuo knows what us denpa fans like - skip the junk, we are greedy people who want nothing but the good parts! Meanwhile us Nanahira fans are truly blessed to have so many wonderful releases from her this year. And fans of both? Well they are going crazy for this song no doubt!

Artist:
Album: MagicalBeam
Comments:
denpanosekai: I think 森永まみ is doing a lot of things right with her random singles, but I also think that she needs to graduate from chika idol world and concentrate on a full-length album! She's got a great voice and neat ideas, so keep an eye out for her.

mandichan: It's no secret I am a huge fangirl for Morinaga "Mamipyon" Mami. Rather than her leave the world of chika idols though, I want more denpa fans to saturate the chika idol fandom and cheer her on, and expand the chika idol world into a denpa paradise!! Oh, sorry, I'm just dreaming. Anyway, any gamers out there can surely relate to this chilling tale of corrupted save files. Mamipyon has a lot to offer denpa fans so make sure to check out her songs any way you can.

The long awaited Funta self cover album is coming!

U is one of the most loved, and most elusive, denpa artists of all time. Also known as "U-tama" to her fans, or "UCO" when performing as a part of the band Funta (Pronounced "Fanta"), she has not only made countless memorable songs for her own projects, but also by creating behind the scenes for other artists. Over the years, as U she has released eroge theme songs and original numbers sporadically. In her band Funta she teams up with 吉見 (Yoshimi) who provides guitar, bass, and keyboard, as well as splits composition / arranging duties with UCO. They had their major debut back in 1998, then reappeared with some lovely new singles in 2003 before once again quieting down. However, even if they stopped releasing songs of their own, Funta continued composing, arranging, and writing lyrics for a wide range of singers, seiyuu, anime, and idols. Hardcore U fans of course kept an eye on all these releases, but couldn't help but hope to someday hear her sing these songs on her own. And finally, that day has come!

funta-stic!! is the name of the album we've all been waiting for. To celebrate their 15th anniversary, Funta is releasing an album covering many of the songs they've contributed to over the past decade. What's the tracklist gonna be like? Let's take a peek.

Self cover version credits: Lyrics: Funta3, Composition: Funta , Arrangement : ARM(IOSYS)
Original version credits: Lyrics: Funta3, Composition / Arrangement : Funta7
The anime Yuru Yuri has been a huge success, including it's seiyuu music group, They pulled out no stops in getting great musicians to work on their music, including members of IOSYS and of course, Funta. This is just one of the many great songs she contributed to the series. For her self cover version, ARM will handle the arrangement, making this a truly exciting collaboration.

Composition: Funta3, Arrangement : Funta7
"Orange" is the ED theme to the popular anime ToraDora. Curious about what the new arrangement will sound like.

Original version credits: Lyrics/Composition/Arrangement: Funta
Another anime song, "Million Love" comes to us with the self cover version arranged by no other than "Aniki" Koike Masaya!

Self cover version credits: Lyrics: UCO, Composition: UCO+吉見, Arrangement: Funta7
Original version credits: Lyrics: UCO、Composition:  UCO+吉見, Arrangement : 明石昌夫
The original comes to us from an artist known as 椎名へきる (Shiina Hekiru), a singer / seiyuu. This one is quite beautiful and serious, and will probably take on a quite different tone when it's covered, but only time will tell.

Self cover version credits: Lyrics: Yura, Composition: Funta, Arrangement: RegaSound
Original version credits: Lyrics: yura, Composition / Arrangement:Funta
Funta also brought us the composition on this fun Idolm@ster Christmas tune to be covered on the new album.

Composition/ Arrangement : Funta
Funta is no stranger to working on songs for アイドリング!!!, and I'm curious to hear the difference between her solo version and the original.

7.口移しのチョコレート - AKB48(多田愛佳・柏木由紀・平嶋夏海)

Many people are familiar with the splendid プチリズム series as well as the new doujin supergroup SHAKING PINK, but what about the man behind the scenes? かたほとり has been composing all kinds of silly sweet songs since 2008, including a surprising number of vocaloid hits. But in recent years there's been a gradual shift to cute female vocals and that's where doujin circle ポヤッチオ is headed these days. We got a hold of busy かたほとり and managed to squeeze out some interesting answers out of him.

If you are new to the "Katahotori Sound", please enjoy this medley video!

- When did you start composing music? Please share your learning experience.

It all started with some electronic organ classes back in elementary school. Then when I became a high school student, I was immediately attracted to PC and video game music. I would attempt to play my favourite songs and learn composition structure along the way, eventually leading to my own original compositions. Other than this rudimentary musical education, I taught myself everything else over the years.

- What elements of moe, denpa and vocaloid songs attracted you as opposed to other genres?

It's unlikely that moe songs, denpa songs and the like could have become popular in just any generation - there are surprisingly many new cutting-edge expressions and manners of speech being used now. When I hear them I get excited... I believe this is the charm that defines moe and denpa music.

- The "Katahotori Sound" is very distinct, with uptempo songs and heavy slapping bass.
Your latest song 「女の子の美学」 is a great example of this style. Where does this influence come from?

These elements, especially the heavy slapping bass, come from a techno sound variation of video game music. This is a genre that heavily influenced me as I was growing up and composing my own music. In particular, I like to refer to Namco and SEGA soundtracks of the 80s and 90s, especially those from composers such as 林克洋 (HAYASHI Katsuhiro) and of course (HOSOE Shinji). For instance, here are two particularly inspiring soundtracks:

Metal Hawk (NAMCO, 1988)
Galaxy Force (SEGA, 1988)

- How does your creative approach vary when composing original songs versus arranging touhou material?

There are countless people making endless Touhou arrangements from the same source material. I try to think in a way that redefines the image of the original songs as much as I can so that I don't come up with the same stuff. In that sense, it feels like an original, but it's quite relaxing to just be able to compose without thinking about anything too hard.

- The プチリズム series is five volumes strong, did you ever expect this success?

When I started getting into the doujin scene, I quickly realized that most denpa and moe songs came from either Touhou arrange albums or commercial releases (game or anime OPs). In fact there were very few all-original doujin albums focusing exclusively on said genres. I thought to myself "where there's a will, there's a way" and came up with a concept to try and tackle this niche market. Thus プチリズム was born. At first, I didn't think it would turn out to be such a long-running series, but I'm definitely glad we kept going and reached out to so many people.

- Congratulations on getting ななひら, ココ and 桃箱 to join ポヤッチオ.

Nanahira-san, Momobako-san and Koko-san participated in Poyacchio's CDs from the start, but on paper Poyacchio was my group until the end. When the three of them became members, they already understood what sort of group we were -- if their fans bought Poyacchio's CDs and were able to listen to their songs, then I believe that they could feel at ease.

- SHAKING PINK is an amazing doujin supergroup. How did it all come together?

In one way or another, all three members of SHAKING PINK have been associated with ポヤッチオ since the very beginning. We started talking about this project in early 2012 and released the first single in August 2012. All three girls have instantly recognizable voices yet I feel they come together perfectly. They also happen to have very strong individualistic personalities, which helps in creating a unique experience for listeners and fans. Our belief is that 「SHAKING PINK have suddenly invaded us!」 and we'll keep working under this motto.

- Impressively, there's already a CD and live appearance after half a year of existence.
Can you give us a small preview of things to come?

Performing a live concert right after releasing the CD was great timing, we were very happy to receive an invitation from the organizers. The SHAKING PINK girls greatly enjoyed this first live performance, so I'm pretty confident you will see them on stage again. As for future endeavours, there will definitely be more albums as well as collaborations with other circles. Maybe some commercial activities, who knows!

- What is the story behind the lyrics to your mysterious song 「DENPA NO SEKAI」?

「DENPA NO SEKAI」 is a Touhou arrange song that has a theme of living in an imaginary world above the network. As you have guessed, the title was chosen after I became aware of the always pleasant "Denpa no Sekai" website, heh!

- What are some of your hobbies outside of creating music?

I still enjoy watching anime and playing video games, that hasn't changed. However these days, composing songs and managing doujin activities is really taking up most of my free time! I wish could squeeze in a couple more hobbies, but my priority is music.

- What do the names かたほとり and ポヤッチオ mean?

I took the name "Katahotori" from part of the name of a writer I liked a long time ago but it doesn't really have any deep meaning. "Poyacchio" comes from a fortune telling game in an old arcade I used to go to as a kid. The name comes from the result screen's "good luck nickname." In Japan, there is also a popular game called "doki doki poyacchio," and as I recall I have memory of taking it from that same root as that. There is no direct correlation between our "poyacchio" and "doki doki poyacchio"!

- Thank you for your time and we will keep on supporting your efforts in the future.

Not at all, the pleasure's all mine. Poyacchio is going to try a few new things from here on.
Basically I just want to make some fun music. Thank you for your support!

Top 3 most underrated and overlooked denpa albums of 2012

About the same time last year, we took at look at three fantastic albums which seemed to have flown right under everyone's radar. But what exactly makes these albums "underrated" or "overlooked"? Pure personal opinion. I can't exactly walk into every denpa fan's home and inspect their CD library to see what they're missing out on. Rather, I came up with this "top 3" based on personal introspection and some degree of extrapolation. I am, after all, privy to certain information such as site searches, retweet popularity and personal queries, all of which helped me establish the following as niche-in-niche.

It's no secret that I fucking love KuKuDoDo and everything that this crazy genius comes up with. I've been following Holic Service and Birdtune ever since both labels started and haven't skipped a single album. One of my personal highlights of 2012 was an interview with this legendary composer. Four years down the line... one might wonder why they aren't "bigger" after releasing so many albums. Live concerts are few and far between and both labels often seem to go on hiatus or information blackout. Some dark rumours on the internets probably aren't helping, also it's pretty obvious that the whole New Wave-cross-denpa style isn't for everyone. The fact that most of their new songs are Touhou arranges suggests that their few original albums didn't fly off the shelves (or M3 tables).

The ridiculously-titled 「妹達のお尻が臭かったので、戦わせることにした!」 is one of 2012's most powerful Touhou denpa albums, but it didn't seem to light up the interwebs with red-hot hype. It's packed with quality vocalists, some all-star guest arrangers and it features the very best of KuKuDoDo this far. As far as I'm concerned, 2009's Holy Grail 「エネルギー冷麺 お受験せんそ→☆」 has been surpassed and that was no small feat. However, I just don't see that many people ranting about the new album and its crazy songs. I mean, weren't we all waiting for lyrics about SQL love injection?

Of course, this doesn't mean that their albums don't sell at all; we wouldn't be getting new Holic Service and Birdtune releases if they were produced at a loss. In fact, I feel that they have a very dedicated fanbase that does not necessarily grow with every passing year, else we'd be getting nanano-flavoured lollipops at 7-eleven. At least loyal listeners have been rewarded with the promise of a solo KuKuDoDo album sometime in 2013, as well as some "exciting" stuff for the next M3. So I'll just take what I get and keep doing my best to spread the good word, hopefully getting them new fans in the process.

cello (of beatlogic records) released a heck of a solo single in August 2012. This is denpa for the punk rockers out there. Fast as fuck, crazy as hell. Probably too weird for the masses, but exactly what yours truly expects from wacky Japan. In 12:22 minutes, cello delivers 10 furious tunes (you work out the average length). Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but many tracks seem to be above 250BPM, which is some speedcore-level shit. Most song structures indicate that cello is probably a fan of old NYHC bands (heavy guitars, relentless drums, circle pit parts) so he gets infinite respect points on that one.

The other, not-guitar-driven category of songs clearly shows his love for MOSAIC.WAV and respect for other contemporary composer peers. I'm sure Kayapi would appreciate the ultra-silly 「擬音祭」 and title track 「eLekSoNicRusHeRRRRRR!!!」 would definitely get a stamp of approval from t+pazolite. This single is definitely hardcore for the hardcore, whether you're into punk or electronica (or both). Not a single sleeper here, much less stinker. And get a load of that cover!

Did I mention that the vocals are all 初音ミク? No, that's because for once I'm not bothered at all that a real human isn't singing. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love what Lord Tenkomori and Master Katahotori can produce, but I much prefer cute girls giving it their best shot. In fact I would still like to see what cello could accomplish with real vocals, but as far as vocaloids are concerned, this is some of the most extreme usage I've ever heard. The guy's a hard worker, check out his new label "No Touch Records" if you're really into off-the-wall vocaloid stuff.

For all these reasons and more, it's pretty sad that his skills aren't being recognized. When I asked him over on twitter if there would be a second volume of his first compilation album 「シュミックトリガ! -New wave of A-POP-」 he seemed to indicate that he'd have to burn through remaining copies first. I've done my part and really hope to hear more from this creative composer in the near future, so consider doing yours if you like what you hear!

MilliRobo.beta got together in early 2011 and released their first album 「ミニロボベータ!」 almost two years later, in December 2012. Since it was released just a month ago, does it really qualify for this top 3? Sure, because I'm afraid it will be overlooked in the long run. It was announced just four days before C83 so few people reported the news, much less knew about it when they made their shopping list final. Because we all know you don't wanna go to Comiket without a plan. So, it feels to me as though there's very little hype around one of the most original releases of 2012.

Now I don't know if their ambitions are doujin-only, but packaged properly, this duo has what it takes to make it as big as アーバンギャルド on an international level. There's lots of people out there who prefer dark and twisted music, you just have to reach their ears. The dual male/female vocals make for great (and disturbing) dialogue situations. Unlike their contemporary squeaky clean peers SHAKING PINK, MilliRobo.beta aren't likely to get eroge OP offers with their dissonant and cacophonous style, nor is that something they would necessarily pursue. Live performances will also be few and far between if they happen at all.

But, along with distinctive art, one thing they already got right and that they should keep doing is pushing out videos. So far they have three of them out there, which is likely how most of their listeners to this day got to know them. If you haven't already, spend some time watching the deliciously tortuous 家想要塞メルヘン (animated!), 恋人サンディは明後日笑う and トテモトモタチ. Other than that, they'll have to rely on random buzz and word of mouth, which is what this fan hopes to accomplish with this article.

Everyone, spread the word about KuKuDoDo, beatlogic and MilliRobo.beta!

Unless something major is announced, this will likely be our final C83 coverage, as well as last post of the year! Wish we could have promoted Birdtune's new nanano album, but KuKuDoDo is always so last-minute when it comes to web updates. Make sure to follow us on twitter for tons of bite-sized newsflash, but you can also check out clix's shopping list for a second opinion.

Zero-Shaft's new Princess Vocal Collection series launched just this past October 2012, but it must be off to a good start since they're adding two new entries this C83! The fourth volume features りこ。 while the fifth is all about 大山チロル. (don't drop the dot!) is a regular Zero-Shaft vocalist who's also a part of Plissh and has been making the rounds lately, including two notable appearances on Holic Service's C82 album.

大山チロル on the other hand has been on a couple Zero-Shaft albums, but is mostly known for her roles on KATIMOTTY drama albums alongside the ちぃむdmp☆ girls (whom she often provides illustrations for). She also happens to have impressive adult game work sheet. Truly multi-talented! Both albums include an original song, a drama track and a cover song (「オハヨウ」 and 「ルーレット☆ルーレット」 respectively).

I mean おでんぱ☆スタジオ is back with an eighth single 「おでんぱ☆幼女合唱」. The theme is loli (what else?) but this time with a bit of a holy spin. Guest vocalist 安倍ようこ is back for a second tour of duty, this time as part of the Loli Choir Girls on the first track 「ぐろりあ♪」 Ave Lolia! The second track 「ロリロリ詐欺にご用心!」 has slap bass, piano and a nice fast pace overall. ひろて~ and ベイビー・レモネード keep upgrading their skills song after song, this single is a great example too!

Gotta admit that 「Sweet Girl Avenue」 really took me by surprise! Circle's name is 第二生徒会室 and main composer/producer is あーたん, two names you probably haven't heard of until today. In fact, あーたん and main vocalist 彩 have released a few singles since late 2011, but this album compiles some of these older songs, along with a few new ones and a nice J-Core remix from K_Pst. But guess what? なゆ makes a surprise appearance on 「はっぴぃ☆らぶみぃ☆えぶりでぃ♪」 which seals the deal as far as I'm concerned. For a debut album, it sure scores a lot of points thanks to its great pace, cute vocals and colourful art. Keep going like this!

I recently found out about 木下いちご when I came across her impressive rendition of Lady ななひら's 「爆発!ラブパニック」, after which I began stalking following her every move. 「MoonLight Parade」 is a great debut single, featuring 2 new original tracks including the aptly titled 「いちご電波」. She seems to be actively soliciting voice work, so I wouldn't be surprised to see her pop up on a couple albums at the next M3 and Comiket events.

Something else worth keeping an eye on is CHUCHUろりぷりんせす, a unit she formed with her friend 柘紅実. At this point it's not clear if this is a fully musical project or if some sort of game is involved, nor do they provide any kind of release date. One thing for sure if they definitely got the characters and cute artwork figured out. We'll just have to wait and see!

C83: First MilliRobo.beta mini-album 『

MilliRobo.beta is a rather new unit featuring マリネ on vocals and 園山モル (aka 盛るP) as composer. They'll be releasing their first mini-album 「ミニロボベータ!」 at Comiket 83, but in fact they've been together since early 2011. At least three of these songs have already been released online, including 「家想要塞メルヘン」 featured below and 「恋人サンディは明後日笑う」 which was featured on beatlogic's splendid (and deeply underrated) C80 album 「シュミックトリガ! -New wave of A-POP-」.

So it took them two years to put out these 5 songs on disc, but Rome wasn't built in a day. This is outstanding high-quality denpa that is both charmingly aggressive and strangely comfortable. These songs are bound to surprise you at every turn and twist, yet fans of MOSAIC.WAV should feel right at home with this album. On the other hand, this is a bit more chaotic and experimental than most of what's being released these days, so make sure you hit that crossfade with an open mind if you're new in town.

If anything, it's just refreshing to see 盛るP back in business after nearly a year and a half of silence. His first album 『ミクウェーブ!』 (which I'm still trying to get my hands on) was released in June 2011 and his blog hadn't been updated since. I'm also quite fond of 初音ミク artists "crossing" the gap and going with real female vocals, this feels like an evolution to me and others I've discussed this subject with. Hopefully this debut mini-album gets decent support from fans of the genre, because I'd love to see what they can do with a full album!
